Today I like....

Calligraphy-  The word Calligraphy literally means beautiful writing. Before the invention of the printing press some 500 years ago, it was the way books were made. Today, there are three main types or styles of calligraphy: (1) Western or Roman, (2) Arabic, and (3) Chinese or Oriental. It is mostly in the form of elegant hand writing. It is an art form in itself. It allows you to juxtapose creativity with attention to detail in order to create something beautiful and exact.

Some nice blue things from my life....

From top:
  • Russian dolls bought on a recent trip to Prague
  • Print from Paris when I visited a few years ago
  • Paper weight received as a birthday present
  • A duvet cover I bought when at college, its sooo soft and its from Lidl (cheap and cheerful)
  • Logo from Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue perfume box which I have on display in my room as I love the colour of it
  • Picture from my bedroom wall which matches my blue room
  • A print from my Alice in Wonderland Book which I got for my 9th birthday
Hope you like my few blue things, I love all things blue!

Imagination............

As Albert Einstein said
Imagination is sometimes more important than knowledge. For while knowledge defines all we currently know and understand, imagination points to all we might yet discover and create.

So don’t wish your life away, cherish every moment of it. Spend time with loved ones, laugh, cry and above all remember you only live once!
Imagination disposes of everything; it creates beauty, justice, and happiness, which are everything in this world ~Blaise Pascal
You see things; and you say, "Why?" But I dream things that never were; and I say, "Why not?" ~George Bernard Shaw
Reality leaves a lot to the imagination ~ John Lennon

Where there is Love

Where there is love the heart is light,
Where there is love the day is bright,
Where there is love there is a song
To help when things are going wrong,
Where there is love there is a smile
To make all things seem more worthwhile,
Where there is love there’s quiet peace,
A tranquil place where turmoils cease….
Love changes darkness into light
And makes the heart take “wingless flight”-
Oh, blest are they who walk in love…..
They also walk with God above,
And when man walks with God again
There shall be Peace on Earth for men.

Beauty

I recently read a lovely article by Martina Devlin about beauty, it goes…

“Now that none of us have any money, one of the few things left to us is beauty. Of course beauty can be bought, an amber necklace, a pamper session in a salon, a gull-winged car. But it can be free, too. Some unforgettable examples of beauty have no admission charge and no price tag. The sight of cherry blossom in a park can be breathtaking. A waterfall is beauty in motion. A rainbow is beauty set in the sky. A Georgian door is manmade beauty. There is beauty in the concentration on a child’s face eating ice-cream. In the view from a hilltop. In an abandoned sandcastle with seaweed and shell decoration. Definitions of beauty are highly subjective”

This is all so true, so for those of us who say beauty is within, it is true too! Beauty to me means so many different things- from the sight of a butterfly floating about the garden, to the sound of birds in the early morning, to the charm of a traditional thatched cottage, an elderly person sharing their thoughts with a child, the scent of honeysuckle in the hedgerows at home, and of course the sparkle in my boyfriends eye when I go by! (I just had to put that one in!)
